ABOUT

I research and write about Allied military vehicles of the Second World war.

During my teens, I developed an interest in the war from playing board wargames and from reading books such as Brazen Chariots and The Crucible of War. It then lay dormant for a long time. In 2011 I started playing World of Tanks, but a spark wasn't lit until about five years later.

I have pretty much always been interested in history. From university into my thirties, my focus was on ancient Greece. However, WoT I revived my interest in reading about the Second World War, and scale models, and then I began to do archival research as a hobby. A situation arose in which I could get access to material from the National Archives of the UK in exchange for research in Canada. I took this opportunity to start my first book.

I was born in 1972 in Ottawa, Canada. I am a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a degree in computer science and mathematics. Since then I have worked as a computer game programmer. I live in Toronto with my cat Ella.
